PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION 2024 "DIGITAL LITERACY"

that your fear of public speaking can inspire and change their lives? Public
speaking is speaking in front of a general audience by delivering important
news, information or ideas whether it is in the form of motivation or inviting
in a polite and courteous manner accompanied by formal language. Based on that,
We, from EDSA, create an event that will be held every year, which is Public
Speaking Competition 2024 that carries the theme “Digital Literacy" based
on the current trend among people nowadays. This event has two branches of
competition, the first is Speech and the second is News Anchor. The Public Speaking
Competition was held on August 29th to 30th which coincided with Thursday and
Friday which were very blessed. This event took place at the 5th floor of the
Fisip Auditorium Building which is located right next to the Mosque. This event
was attended by students who are in high schools both SMA, SMK, and also MA
throughout East Java.
For the systematic of the 2024 Public Speaking Competition, the first is to conduct a preliminary round and only 10 participants are taken to go to the next round, the final round. In this preliminary round, participants are allowed to make texts from home then memorize and will be displayed during the preliminary round. After qualifying for the final round the participants will get a serial number to perform and also the theme that will be displayed in the final round later. The participants are given approximately 30 minutes to prepare their performance in the final round, then the participants will come back to perform their performance in 4 to 5 minutes and the judges will determine who has the right to be crowned as the first, second, and third winners. There were also performances from Edsacoustic and Moesad to entertain the participants who might feel nervous about their performance, at least this can relax their minds and become more focused again. At the Public Speaking Competition 2024 event, Mr. Dr. Agil Abdur Rohim as a lecturer at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya and Ms. Thania Wahyu Anandita, A. MD. Kom. as a presenter from GTV East Java, they are judges for the News Anchor branch. Then for the Speech branch we invited Ma'am Riza Astutie, S.S., M.Pd. and Idlofi Mahdi Muhammad, S.Sosio who was named Runner Up 1 Environmental Ambassador 2023.
Our goal in holding the Speech and New Anchor competitions is to develop and help students to be more courageous in public speaking, to provide information related to issues that are viral and to make students believe in themselves that they can voice their opinions in front of the public. They can also develop their skills and make them dare to try new things. So, for the participants who have not had the opportunity to become a champion, don't consider yourself a bad performance, you are good and great because you have the courage to appear, don't be discouraged because there is still a Public Speaking Competition event next year, don't forget to register your name who knows you are the next winner.
“For impressions and messages from me as the chief executive of the Public Speaking Competition in 2024, I am very enthusiastic and feel the need to increase the sense of reading and literacy to increase my knowledge because I see children who are very ambitious in doing this competition, I learn a lot from them then for the message hopefully the Public Speaking Competition can be even better and provide motivation and help develop Indonesian children to be more courageous and want to find and even show their skills not only for themselves but for the general public dare to perform, dare to speak in public, and dare to get out of their comfort zone” said Sabbihisma as the Chairman of Public Speaking Competition 2024.
