As students, we must have heard about scholarship seminars. But do we really know what they are? A seminar is an activity to train students in presenting scientific research proposals in front of the public, gaining experience in attending seminars, increasing confidence, and ethics in a scientific meeting. Scholarships are a form of financial assistance provided by the government, organizations, or companies to assist students in completing their education. These scholarships can be in the form of tuition fees, living expenses, or other costs required to complete the education. Scholarships are usually awarded based on certain criteria, such as academic achievement, potential, or interest.
EDSA (English Department Student Association) held a Scholarship Seminar and Expo 2024 with the theme "Unleash Your Potential, Secure Your Future" for students of UINSA's English Literature Program. The Scholarship Seminar and Expo took place at the Auditorium of FISIP Campus 2 UINSA Gunung Anyar at 08.00 WIB. The speaker for this Scholarship Seminar and Expo was Dr. Suhartawan Budianto, S.S., M.Pd., who is also the father of the chairman in this event, Sony Piously Budianto.
This seminar was open to all students, either from UINSA itself or other campuses. Most participants were from UINSA, but there were also some from STIKES Surabaya. Scholarship Seminar and Expo 2024 aimed to provide motivation and inspiration to ignite the enthusiasm of students to achieve higher education and discover their potential through experiences shared by the speakers and testimonials from previous scholarship recipients. In addition, Scholarship and Expo 2024 provided tips and tricks on how to get scholarships both domestically and abroad.
Scholarship Seminar and Expo 2024 was opened by singing the Indonesia Raya song, followed by a prayer read by Kanka Narendra. The core of the Scholarship Seminar and Expo 2024 event was the delivery of material moderated by Desita Nurul Masyitoh, who is an active 6th-semester student of the English Literature Study Program and also a member of EDSA. The next agenda was the delivery of material presented by Dr. Suhartawan.
The material was delivered for approximately one hour. The next agenda was a workshop on how to make a good and correct CV, guided by Dr. Suhartawan. The Q&A session was the closing agenda for the core event of Scholarship Seminar and Expo 2024. The participants were very enthusiastic and active in this Q&A session.
To keep the event engaging, the next agenda was a quiz session. The MC asked some questions, and those who could answer correctly received prizes at the end of the quiz session. Those who answered incorrectly received valuable insights and were encouraged to attend the next EDSA event.
Towards the end of the event, there were institutional presentations delivered by three institutions Aminef, Sun Education, and Djarum. These institutions made it easier for students to find scholarships that suited their abilities. The event was closed on a lively note by the two enthusiastic MCs, who then invited the participants to visit the institution's booths and collect certificates and refreshments.
"Alhamdulillah, this year's Scholar event went smoothly and successfully. We managed to bring participants not only from outside UINSA but also from various other study programs. Thank you to our friends who have worked hard and spent their time wholeheartedly to make this event a success. We would also like to thank the speakers who have delivered the material very well. Hopefully, the next Scholar event will be even better and more festive," said Sony as the Chairman of the Scholarship Seminar and Expo 2024.
