Literature Night 2nd Episode: The Great Gatsby (Reportase)

The Great Gatsby was the second movie that presented to analyzed in the second Lit.Nite (Literature Night) program. This program was backed-up by the Networking division of HIMAPRO-SI. There was slightly different from the second LitNite like the rule of this program, selection of the movie, and the location. In the previous LitNite we analyzed "The Phantom of the Opera" which attended a speaker (Mr. Sofyan) to gave his review. But, in this second LitNite did not attend a speaker. "We do not attend a speaker in the second LitNite, because we want to put forward a review of the viewer," said Nurvian Permana as a chief committee of this program. Some of you maybe didn't know a contest that called ‘Spelling bee’ or it could be some-thing new in your ear. However, the actual of Spelling Bee is a competition in which people are asked to spell a word (usually in English). The competition is introduced first time in the United States in 1925 and in Indonesia itself spelling bee held since 2003. Story Telling Competition: Indonesian Folklore

This was story telling competition's first chalenge held by HIMAPRO - SI that aims to celebrate of Adab and Humanities Faculty's Anniversary to 47. The competition was quite festive in which each class is required to send two delegates. HIMAPRO – SI took the theme "Indonesian Folklore" in this competition. HIMAPRO - SI took that theme refers to the theme of the anniversary of the Adab and Humanities Faculty, with expectations every student of English Literature knowing about Indonesian folklore, not only to know and learn the stories of the West and forget Indonesian folklore. During the competition, on December 2nd, 2013, registered 26 participants, but unfortunately that able to perform in this events only 16 participants. Dalam Program Studi tercinta kita "Sastra Inggris" ini, kita dituntut untuk memiliki kompetensi untuk meneliti maupun menganalisa suatu materi sastra seperti: poetry, drama, novel, film, dan lain lain. 7 November 2012, bertepatan ketika Himapro Sastra Inggris untuk perdana merayakan pesta Dies Natalies jurusan kita, Sastra Inggris yang menampilkan bakat - bakat kreatif dari teman - teman mahasiswa Sastra Inggris beserta perwakilan dari UKM. Pada saat itu pula tepat pukul 19.00 WIB salah satu program baru HIMAPRO SASTRA INGGRIS bernama "Lit.Night" atau Literature Night Launching untuk pertama kalinya beriringan pada Dies Natalies Sastra Inggirs di kampus kita Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel Surabaya. Members of Himapro-SI in UGM University Welcome Jogjakarta. Right on 26-28 September 2013 was a memorable day for us as members of HIMAPRO-SI. We did our program to Jogjakarta namely comparative study to Gadjah Mada University (UGM). Comparative study in UGM was one of our activities that also one of great program from Division of Networking. This activity was accompanied by a friendly lecturer ‘Mam Itsna’ who had also been a student of Gadjah Mada University. Preparation for running this event has a long ago, such as making a proposal, transfers, and Half-Board with a host family. Everything run well as planned although there were some unwanted errors. Ferdinand de Saussure Do you know Ferdinand de Saussure? Do you ever heard about him? Or do you forget? Who is he? He is one of linguistic figures. So, let’s find out about him. Ferdinand de Saussure was born in Geneva into a family of well-known scientists. He studied Sanskrit and comparative linguistics in Geneva, Paris, and Leipzig, where he fell in with the circle of young scholars known as the Neogrammarians. Brugmann, in particular, was his mentor, but he was also close to Karl Verner and others of the circle. As a social human being of course we should help others because we may not be able to live alone, based on that belief, Himapro then held a program that aims to foster this sense of concern for others. Most people perceive OSPEK was chance for revenge filled with intimidation and abnormally activities. However, that assumption was contradicted by HIMAPRO-SI who has successfully run OSMAPRO 2K13 with their theme "Unity for All" and wrapped with the concept of fun learning.
