Some of you maybe didn't know a contest that called ‘Spelling bee’ or it could be some-thing new in your ear. However, the actual of Spelling Bee is a competition in which people are asked to spell a word (usually in English). The competition is introduced first time in the United States in 1925 and in Indonesia itself spelling bee held since 2003.

Not waiting for late, for making a great and being success our event ‘The 47th Birthday of Our beloved ADAB Faculty’, we are as member of HIMAPRO-SI helped the event by held two competitions; Spelling Bee and Story Telling that have been done on the 2nd of December 2013 in 2nd floor of multimedia B building.
Took an inspiration from a best movie ‘Akeelah and the bee’ directed by Doug Atchison in 2006. We became interested to introduce this contest to ADAB citizens, especially students of English literature. Started with a socialization into every classes followed by a TM (Technical Meeting), we were as a committee of the spelling bee felt that candidates of spelling bee contestants will have to understand the rule of the contest.
(2/12) began with the re-registration and the opening ceremony at 09.00 pm. The event was running smoothly. This contest guided by three judges including pronouncer, giving clues and corrective. They have found 5 best entries from 34 participants in the final round. To find the best participant among the best, the judge had prepared 10 words spelled with duration of 2 minutes. From an assessment and consideration, finally the judge decided that there have been Ahmad Abdullah Rosyid (1th semester) in winner position and Evi Susanti (3th semester) in runner-up position. Amount of cash and a plaque was handed over to the win-ners and certifications for participants in the final day of the birth of ADAB Faculty (3/12).
Seeing enthusiastic spelling bee participants we say thank you and congratulations for winners. We hope this contest will inspire you to keep the spirit of learning and creative spirit remains. And our hope as a member of HIMAPRO-SI this con-test will continue to run in subsequent years. (Inez) *H
